San Francisco International Airport to Incheon International Airport

First day of my business trip has already reminded me of the struggles with travel. Everything from packing, driving to long term parking and to understanding the paths to take in other international airports where a different language is spoken and the writing on the walls (literally) are not spelled out. The good thing is for the most part, technology makes it very easy to recover from a minor hiccup or lack of planning. Currently I have a 4 hour layover in South Korea. (which I'm half way d

Happy first of the Month! March 1st is here! As I kick off March, I'm getting ready to head off to Japan on a business trip. I'm excited to go as it will be a very productive trip. I'll get to meet some very smart people (core engineers) and discuss next generation goodies. Nothing I can share here, but for sure my experiences which will be brought to you by the company of my travel gear: * A heavy weight 15 inch Mac Book Pro! * First generation pixel * A tough Tule backpack * An Anker pow

Taking Action

The idea of taking action in ones life is taken for granted by some. It is very easy to declare an endeavor or decide to do something but most of us will not comply with the simple operation of doing. We have great ideas, yet we have very little follow up.One thing is certain; we are on earth for a limited amount of time. A quote that comes to mind is from Jack London: > "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist" In my opinion, Jake was on point as this makes a whole lot of sense

Iceland Trip - Northern Lights

An experience that I will never forget. Heading to a remote location in Selfoss to watch the northern lights with my pregnant wife and son. Knowing that it would be a hit or miss on wether or not it would be possible to see them made me feel nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time. We walked up a hill for about 150 meters and was asked to wait. No other details were given which made me think of the the phrase: "being in the dark" which I frequently use when given a update on rumors at

Machu Picchu almost 8 years ago

One of the best travels experiences thus far was the trip to Machu Picchu. Not only was visiting the famous ruins an experience of a lifetime, but being there as a newly wed was something that I now appreciate more than ever. Hands down the wedding was a celebration full of fun and laughter, but the honey moon was something that my words are not able to describe. Today, I wanted to post a good picture from one of my travels as I get ready to embark on my new adventure to Iceland. I typically use

Iceland Trip Planning

Last year my wife and I decided on Iceland as our international trip for 2017. A decision that stemmed off of the idea of traveling somewhere that is winter like. At first we were thinking about London in December, but didn’t pull the trigger because we just didn’t feel comfortable traveling during the holiday when our families are expecting us to attend the various gatherings. We ended up purchasing our typical travel book and researched the many activities that Iceland offers during the winte

Life without the Capitalistic Mindset

Priorities are really hard to set if you don’t have a solid understanding of what you want out of your life. You have to understand that life is a nonstructural institution and will not allow you to freely get away with your bad habits. Life is about evolution and change and its important to understand this point. You have to evolve every aspect of your life. You have to do this with the mindset that you are doing this to ensure the quality of your life remains at a level that will allow you to

Numbers represent Age

To me this infamous statement which either tries to make you feel younger or older, (depending on which sideline you stand) can be misleading and often condescending. I see age not as a number but as a measurement of how long I have survived since I’ve entered into this world. Grant it the first years was with a lot of help with my parents, family and friends. And now, every year that passes I feel that I grow and add experiences to my character that feeds my personality and ultimately fuels my

A wicked lifecycle

Insecurities lead to fear, fear leads to pain, pain leads to misery, misery leads to resistance, resistance leads to struggle, struggle leads to hope, hope leads to liberation, liberation leads to freedom, freedom leads to love by: Gerardo R.Image reference: Mathew Henry [https://unsplash.com/collections/138296/life?photo=Dpv4yCZKFG8]

Topic: Balance

Lately I’ve been working on balancing my priorities, finances and relationships. What I’ve learned so far is that it can be overwhelmingly difficult... I’ve noticed that many factors can play negative roles in hindering my progress, consistency and time management when it comes to taking action to create new habits to bring balance. I've come to appreciate that a balanced life doesn't mean a perfect life. I've learned a balanced life is only balanced if we can overcome some of the many poor deci

Adios 2016 ... 2017 here we come

I wish I could start this post with some influential words for you but unfortunately I'm not there yet and because its the first post, I'm still figuring out the scope of what I will publish on this blog. (which is why the picture really has no meaning... it was more of an exercise in learning how to upload images to ghost) So I ask that you bare with me in the early days... So the topic today is New Year's: I don’t believe a new year heals the wounds created by any of the previous years and I

World Cup 2014 - Recife

I never knew how much I would miss the feeling I felt in Brazil watching Mexico beat Croatia 3-1 in the final group stage match during the 2014 World Cup. As I go though my pictures, the image of the mostly empty stadium brings a nostalgia that reminds me why I love soccer so much. It reinforces why I spend so many hours thinking about it, learning about it, and even at 35, playing it. Soccer is an emotional journey and a soccer stadium only amplifies the emotion. It represents the capsule in wh
