Understanding the meaning of software requirements
Software requirements are important and the art of capturing them varies on the project scope. Products, solutions, and applications suffer from many issues stemming from capturing vague, incorrect and bad software requirements. For a class that I'm taking this fall, I'm reading the following book: Software Requirements, Third Edition by Karl Wiegers and Joy Beatty. In the first chapter the book discuss the various types of requirements information that can be captured in a software engineering

The new Journey begins - MSE Program
I'm officially starting the Masters in Software Engineering program at Cal State University Fullerton! I'm here at the airport waiting for my flight back to San Jose, Ca as I attended an optional orientation. I'm very happy my wife pushed me to attend the meeting as I was able to get a good sense of the amount of work and expectations the staff in the CS program at CSUF have and require. I also had the opportunity to network and meet some of my classmates that I'll work with on group projects th

3 Day Trip to Boston - First time
For work, I was ask to head out on a 3 day trip to Boston to discuss technology. I have never travelled on a business trip for a 1 day meeting with two days of travel, and it was quite the experience. I found that I really enjoy chatting about projects from a high level as well as technology that will aid in the projects success. Working at my company for 11 years now, I've now become a product expert and hope to continue to experience these types of meetings as I can really help bridge the tech

Post Developer Conference Notes
A week ago, I was in Florida wrapping up the developer conference that my company sponsors every 2 years. (on average) For me it was my 5th developer conference and the third time in a row that I was responsible for coordinating and creating the technical schedule for the conference topics. It's a huge undertaking and it requires a lot of work and analysis to ensure the correct message is delivered through each of the technical sessions. It kind of has to be like reading a book, where their is

Gearing up for World Cup 2018
My family and I have planned a trip to the World Cup in Russia this summer and we hope to finalize all of the travel plans this month. This post will highlight some of the activities that will be planned as well as useful links for anyone else with a similar plan. Fan Fest in St. Petersburg Koniushennaya Square, picked as the site of the FIFA Fan Fest in Russia’s northern capital, is very central. It is in line for a real combat test during the 2016 Ice Hockey World Cup, when it will accommodat

When I wish
At times, I wish to be able to fly, to run away from my problems, At times, I wish for more strength, because I was too weak to say no, At times, I wish for more money, because I was not content with what I had, At times, I wish for better features, because I forgot to love myself, At times, I wish to start over, to perfect my actions By: Gerardo Ramirez

Balance
Life is difficult and we all know that. As I get closer to 40 years of age, I have realized that there is a certain lifecycle of how we can achieve balance. You may disagree, but through my experience I have found that these three factors play a really important role... initialize() Never lose your natural animal instinct to survive. Your early years of life should all be about survival. Get ahead of the pack; be stronger, smarter, and motivated. Attack everything in life like it’s a matter of

Japan Business Trip Completed
Today I complete my 5 day technical presentation sprint for my work's developer conference. I've had to fight several days of jet lag, end of winter weather conditions and the lack of my ability to speak Japanese... But luckily for me I can honestly say, it was part of the experience and I welcomed it fully. For me, this kind of work excites me; the idea of preparing technical content and organizing it in a way that is meaningful and educational for an audience is challenging and requires lots
