El Periódico - Mar. 2019

The fiscal year is now over, so it's time to welcome FY19! I work for a Japanese company and a collegue of mine mentioned that in Japan his old company would celebrate the new fiscal year with a celebration in which they crack open large bottles of sake. The goal is to build the moral and get people fired up.

I opened an account with unsplash and will move all of my travel photos there. I've linked my profile to the menu and have also added it to linkedin.

Contemplation

In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains or the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.

Audible's for this month

I've decided to listen to books on Audible while I drive home. It's been about half a year now in which I have a lengthy drive and the radio is no longer feeding my mind the stimulation it requires. This month, I started with one that my wife recommended: "Big Magic". A self help book with lots of useful information for anyone looking for reasons to just create. It is the author that reads the book to you and she can be annoying at times, but overall she did a good job with sharing her excitement with the message.

As my second book, I choose one recommended by Mr. Bill Gates. I receive his newsletter and follow his blog and he had recommended a book called "The Vital Question". It's a very dense book and has so much information. More than I'll ever use about the intricate area of biology, chemistry, and how we developed as humans. In the future, I'll surely think twice before jumping on a recommendation by Mr. Gates. =)
