Strategic Leadership and Planning

Today, in my learning I came across a lesson on strategic leadership and planning. According to lesson, there’s a common dilemma among leaders today: Many leaders think they are leading strategically, but what they’re doing is planning strategically, which isn’t quite the same thing.  Check out this video that was apart of the lesson and is available on YouTube. Here are four qualities of a Strategic Leader: 1. Willing to Learn Strategic people are committed to personal development and s

Family, Golf, Costco Run, Movie Night

My Saturday was simple.  I spent most of the day with my family and went to play a nine-hole course in the morning.  Golf is one of the spots that you can genuinely practice social distancing, and you are outside.   I also did a quick Costco run to get some essentials; eggs, milk, butter, and water.  While I was there, I picked up some more coffee beans and water. The rest of the afternoon, I spent watching movies and hanging out with the family.

Happy Friday! Covid-19 Test Update

Good news, I have an update from my Dec 2nd post [/got-my-first-covid-19-test/]. I checked out negative as there was no Covid-19 present in me. In the US, the cases are rising rapidly, and it looks like California will be shutting down again, only allowing essential businesses to operate. It will get tough also, and I hope our government can aid those in need and ensure people continue to have the necessities. We are prepping for a long winter by ensuring we have the basics. We are also making

My version of Make Time

One of the best advice that I got for ensuring I stay productive and motivated is by following advice and guidance from Jake and JZ at Make Time. > A Friendly Approach to Focus and Energy [https://maketime.blog/] I've created a daily recurring event that has the following information to remind me of how I should structure my Todo list for the day: So far it has helped me stay organized and motivated, however I feel like I need to work on modifying it so that I can adapt and evolve it to fit m

Got my first Covid-19 Test

9 months into the pandemic and I've had to get a covid test to confirm if I'm positive or not.  The process was smooth and quick. I didn't have to wait in any lines nor did I have to leave my car. (Experience was with Kaiser) Although we didn't have a big Thanksgiving feast, I realize that it's easy for the bubbles that we make up (different households, friends, family) to exponentially grow which is why in November we are seeing a huge spike in cases.  I fully understand now that we are in th

9 Months as a Remote Worker

I can now officially state that I know what it's like to be a remote worker, and one area that I'm enjoying is being a self-starter and learner. Covid-19 has caused my company (Ricoh) to go into a fully remote-work mode, and it has taught me a lot about managing time and creating schedules, boundaries, and committing to deadlines. I've been able to grow my technology stack, and I've made an effort to take courses, read books, and do tutorials that enhance my interest in a problem, project, or cu

File permissions - Drupal 7 Modules and Tomcat 7 Servlets

I've been using Drupal 7 to run an internal tool to perform automation on signing Android .apk files with our unique private keys. The internal tool has various components, a custom Drupal module, and three Java servlets. The servlets execute the validation and jarsigner process while the Drupal site and custom module are for the administrative and workflow functionality. (as a bonus I take advantage of Drupal for its user/role functionality so that the various users only have access to certain
